Stomach Problems Respond to Chiropractic Care

Did you know GI problems can be helped by chiropractic? It may not make sense to you but if you look at how the Autonomic Nervous System works…you can see that the middle part of your spine sends a series of nerves that go out to deliver instructions from the brain to the stomach, small and large intestines. If these nerves (like any other) become interfered with in any way, the instructions cannot get through at 100%. This makes it impossible for the stomach to function at 100%. Every time you get adjusted, chiropractors remove the interference to all of your spinal nerves so that your stomach and every other muscle, organ, gland, and system in your body can function properly. Does that make sense?

OVERUSE OF ANTACIDS
Swallowing antacids or gobbling tablets for your upset stomach could cost you your life. Fourteen deaths, 31 hospitalizations and four cases of disability linked to magnesium poisoning have been reported since 1968. “Maalox and Mylanta people drink it just like water,” said Dr. Man C. Fung. “They don’t even think about it.” Magnesium poisoning produces symptoms such as clumsiness, weakness, paralysis, drowsiness, confusion, and coma. Elderly people are susceptible. Longtime diabetics sometimes suffer nerve damage to the bowel.

ULCERS AND MISALIGNMENT OF THE SPINE
In studies, curvatures of the spine both towards the right and the left were present in 90% of the cases studied involving duodenal and gastric ulcers. All of the misalignments involved vertebrae T6 – T9 which correspond to the stomach and the duodenum.

MEDICAL LITERATURE ABSTRACTS

The percentile distribution of right-sided and left-sided scoliosis coincided with the percentages of duodenal and gastric ulcers.

JAMA, 1958

Use of spinal manipulative therapy in the treatment of duodenal ulcer: a pilot study.

Sixteen adult men and women 16-47 years old with endoscopically confirmed diagnosis of ulcer disease were in the experimental group that received chiropractic care. Forty were in the control group that received traditional medical treatment. They were studied using endoscopy and clinical examination.

The chiropractic group had pain relief and healing of the ulcer after 1-9 (average 3.8) days while the control (medical) group took ten days longer. Most frequently involved segments were T9-T12. Gonstead claimed duodenal ulcer T4-T10. Homewood’s review of the literature signified T6-T9.
